Winter Employment Opportunity
With the Borges Family Sleigh Rides at
Sand Harbor State Park
The Borges Family has been delighting visitors to the Lake Tahoe area since 1967 with poems, songs & stories offering a 1 hour narrated horse drawn tour. Our 2,000 lb Belgian Draft horses are know as ‘Gentle Giants’ and our Haflingers also pull the sleighs. They are big, strong and lots of fun to work with. Horse experiences is therefore a must. We will train you on driving sleighs, the routes, tack & harnesses as well as safety. This is a drug free environment and drug testing will be a requirement.
We offer a 1 hours narrated tour with the general history of the area and the typical things people would expect like dashing through the snow & you guessed it - a verse of Jingle Bells. Don’t worry, we will help you with scripts & fact sheets of the history & the facts of Lake Tahoe, also the poem by Robert Frost, “Stopping By The Woods on a Snowy Evening”. We like our drivers to have fun and interact with the family & couples that come to visit the area, so speaking and dealing with the general public has to be a skill you need to enjoy and been comfortable, or at least you want to improve.
Employment will start in late November with training and the season tends to be over by March. Opportunity to stay with the Borges Family and drive Carriages in the Summer is a possibility. We enjoy working with students and are flexible with schedules. We start at $10 per hours and you keep all your tips with raises available upon efficiency. Full time hours are available with overtime possible during the holidays. Your schedule will include weekends & holidays. Plan on being crazy busy for Christmas. Our hours of operation are 10am till Sunset (5pm during the winter).
